If you have been around The Art Studio, you know that art history is a HUGE component of our philosophy. We created this fun, Auburn Coloring Page for kids to enjoy. We LOVE celebrating different artists and incorporating their styles into our art projects.
One of our favorite artists is James Rizzi. He creates large, colorful cities and brings them to life with facial features and emotions that give each city a unique personality. Our students just love him. So we thought it would be fun to create a James Rizzi coloring page with and Auburn twist.
So who is James Rizzi?
James Rizzi was born in 1950 in Brooklyn, NY. He studied art at the University of Florida, where he started experimenting with printing, painting and sculpting. Rizzi’s work often shows his birthplace New York. His neighborhood of tall buildings, busy streets, taxi cabs etc, can be seen in many of his colorful paintings. The fun, happy buildings with bright, bold colors and sharp black outlines are a favorite with our students. In the art press Rizzi is often described as "Urban Primitive Artist '. Rizzi himself says he is influenced by Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee and Jean Dubuffet.
We took a few of the iconic Auburn buildings and traditions and gave them a Rizzi flair, each having their own little personality.
