It’s Fall y’all! This is my favorite time of the year. But this is heat has really put a damper on my love of all things fall.
But what’s really HOT right now is everything happening at the studio! This is an exciting time in the life of our little Auburn studio. Lots of new faces, classes and events to keep Auburn-Opelika creative.

After School Classes are winding up their first session. We are so excited to offer more classes with amazing teachers.
Teen Watercolors just completed their first watercolor project a painting of Samford Hall. The results have been outstanding. Next, we are going to work on a quick fall-themed still life. Class meets Mondays at 5:00.
Pottery On The Plains have been talking about living on the Plains. We have created some beautiful slab pieces representing the great state of Alabama and what we love most about living here. We talked about some of the fun traditions that we take part in, such as rolling Toomers Corner, and have been so excited to make clay pieces celebrating the start of Fall with leaves and pumpkins. Class meets Tuesdays at 4:00.
All American Painting has painted folk art roosters, winter trees, happy landscapes, dogs or cats in collage, and Britto pumpkins. Class meets Tuesdays at 5:00.
Draw. Paint. Print. have been experimenting with different painting techniques to create painted paper what was used in a vase and flowers still life collage. We filled the vase with monoprint flowers. Class meets Wednesdays at 4:00.
We started Homeschool Art Classes with an overwhelming response. We are study Art Through the Ages, a year long curriculum of art exploration inspired by Prehistoric times to contemporary art.
The 4th-6th grade homeschool class traveled back in time to Ancient Rome to look at Roman busts. They formed one themselves, check out the paper marbling and portrait skills! Class meets Thursdays at 8:00.
Our 7-10th graders practiced two point perspective as we studied the Parthenon in Greece. I think we may have some future architecture students. Class meets Thursdays at 10:30.
Monday September 30, we hosted our first Paint Night at The Coffee Cat. This special event was open to artists of all skill levels. We focused on the basics of good composition, blending and impasto techniques to create a Post-Impressionistic masterpiece in the style of a Henri Matisse.
Kids Night Out is a new event for the studio. Parents can drop their kids off on Friday nights for art, a movie, pizza and play time (and Legos!).
Studio Kids, our Saturday Art Club kicked off with a bang! Artists experimented with mixed media including watercolor, pen, oil pastel and printmaking. This past Saturday artists began drawing and blending their bees with oil pastels and then incorporated printmaking by printing the beehives with bubble wrap.
